Samsung Uses MCE 2026 to Advance Integrated HVAC and BMS Strategy

Samsung Electronics used its platform at Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) 2026 in Milan to present an expanded HVAC portfolio spanning residential, commercial, and smart-building segments - marking the company's most comprehensive push yet into turnkey, AI-managed climate systems for the European market. The event, a leading international trade fair for HVAC+R, renewable energy, and water solutions, ran March 24-27 at Fiera Milano. Samsung unveiled its latest heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions jointly with FläktGroup - the first joint showcase since Samsung acquired the climate control firm in November.

Background

Both Samsung and LG unveiled their post-acquisition product lineups at MCE 2026, Europe's largest biennial heating and cooling trade show. The event carries particular regulatory weight: the European Union's recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and revised F-gas Regulation are compelling manufacturers to accelerate the shift away from high-GWP refrigerants while tightening integration between HVAC equipment and building management systems. A broader analysis of MCE 2026's industry-wide implications for interoperability and regional HVAC architecture is covered separately. Samsung occupied a 500-square-meter booth at an event featuring more than 1,900 brands.

Product and Integration Details

Samsung displayed a centralized HVAC system connecting FläktGroup's five indoor units with its own outdoor units, including the DVM S2+, managed through a Building Management Solution (BMS) platform. The companies are targeting high-value industrial sectors including data centers and clean rooms, with commercial products on display including FläktGroup's CAIRplus Air Handling Unit (AHU) and the compact Geko Fan Coil Unit (FCU).

The DVM S2+ VRF system is a central element of the commercial offering. The unit uses R32 refrigerant in line with current standards, and its AI Adaptive Control feature adjusts outdoor unit performance based on surrounding conditions to help reduce energy usage by up to 25% under certain scenarios.

Samsung's new EHS All-in-One system, launched in Europe this year, also uses R32 - a refrigerant whose warming potential is roughly 68 percent lower than the industry-standard R410A. The all-in-one heat pump pairs a single outdoor unit with the EHS ClimateHub indoor unit and applies a waste-heat recycling function to boost efficiency and cut carbon emissions compared with fossil-fuel boilers.

On the residential side, the 2026 AI WindFree Combo Pro wall-mounted unit features improved cooling performance and a redesigned form factor. An AI Motion Wind feature allows users to customize airflow based on lifestyle and environment.

Sean Lim, Executive Vice President and Head of the Air Solution Business Team at Samsung Electronics, stated that "Samsung has been steadily expanding its presence in the HVAC industry, bringing new innovations to customers every year."

Outlook for Installers and Service Professionals

The integrated BMS-linked architecture demonstrated at MCE 2026 carries direct operational implications for HVAC installers and facility managers. Systems combining multiple indoor terminal units - including FläktGroup AHUs, chilled beams, and FCUs - with a single Samsung outdoor unit under unified BMS supervision expand the scope for data-driven commissioning and remote monitoring while also demanding familiarity with open communication protocols during installation. The FläktGroup acquisition gives Samsung immediate credibility and distribution reach in Europe's commercial HVAC market, along with technical expertise in large-scale installations. As European efficiency mandates tighten and renovation cycles accelerate, procurement managers and technical directors sourcing systems for multi-tenant or data-critical facilities will find the BMS-integrated, R32-based product stack increasingly relevant to compliance planning.
